The Flying Eagles kicked off their WAFU Championship campaign against Burkina Faso at Stade de Municipal in Togo. Coach Aliyu Zubairu, recently appointed, fielded a strong and familiar lineup, featuring former players Nwosu, Bameyi, and Igboke, who returned after competing in previous tournaments.
With their strong pedigree, the Flying Eagles were expected to secure all three points, but the match did not unfold as they had hoped.
