Former Arsenal defender William Gallas has urged his old club to reinforce their striking options, recommending that Arsenal sign a top-tier forward to strengthen their chances in the Premier League title race.

However, Gallas believes Arsenal has slim chances of signing Viktor Gyokeres, who has shone at Sporting Lisbon and is reportedly valued at £63 million.
Gallas foresees Gyokeres following his manager, Ruben Amorim, to Manchester United, stating that Gyokeres “would suit Man United’s team” and would likely choose them over Arsenal.
Currently, Arsenal relies on Kai Havertz as their main center forward, but his recent form has raised concerns. Havertz, who has only netted once in his last seven appearances, is seen by Gallas as a good player but not “world-class.”
Gallas argues that Arsenal needs a more powerful forward to compete at the highest level. Notably, he was surprised by Victor Osimhen’s decision to join Galatasaray on loan rather than make a Premier League move.
The Nigerian striker has been in outstanding form, scoring five goals in his last three games, including a brace against Tottenham in the Europa League.
According to Gallas, Osimhen’s quality makes him an ideal fit for Arsenal, and the club should “move heaven and earth” to sign him.
Gallas emphasized that Arsenal requires a striker of Osimhen’s caliber to challenge top teams consistently, suggesting the club’s focus should be on creating a squad that rivals Manchester City and Liverpool in depth and quality.
He pointed out that both of these teams maintain a high standard partly due to their deep benches, filled with international-level players ready to step in.
Arsenal, he argues, should aspire to reach this level to remain competitive in both domestic and European competitions.
