Alejandro Garnacho has decided to treat his Manchester United teammates to dinner as an apology for his reaction to being substituted in their 3-2 win over Ipswich.

The Argentine winger was visibly frustrated when manager Ruben Amorim replaced him following Patrick Dorgu’s first-half red card. Instead of taking a seat on the bench, Garnacho walked straight down the tunnel, which raised eyebrows among fans and pundits.

Speaking after the match, Amorim acknowledged the incident but downplayed its significance.

“He came to my office the next morning. I looked into it and found out he went to the dressing room to change because he was wet. He then watched the rest of the match from a different area before rejoining the team at full-time.”

While there was no major fallout, Amorim emphasized the importance of perception at a club like Manchester United. As a result, Garnacho has agreed to take the squad out for a team dinner as a goodwill gesture.

“At Manchester United, everything matters. The perception in a big club is really important. So, he’s going to pay for dinner for the whole team, and that’s it.”

Another topic of discussion at Amorim’s press conference was Bruno Fernandes, following criticism from former United captain Roy Keane.

Keane, speaking on The Overlap podcast, questioned Fernandes’ leadership, stating that “talent is not enough” and implying that his behavior on the pitch lacked true captaincy qualities.

However, Amorim was quick to defend his skipper:

“I have a different opinion. Bruno is incredibly important to this club and to me personally. Yes, he sometimes expresses frustration, but that comes from his desire to win.”

Amorim acknowledged that Keane holds United to a high standard due to his own legacy at the club but made it clear that he fully supports Fernandes.

“Roy Keane has high expectations, and it’s normal for him to have an opinion. But for me, Bruno is doing things quite well, and my opinion matters more because I am the coach.”

With United’s squad rallying together, all eyes will be on their next fixture as they aim to build momentum heading into the crucial final stretch of the season.
