After Arsenal’s thrilling 2-2 encounter with Liverpool on Sunday, Neville highlighted Manchester City’s solid position atop the table following their narrow 1-0 victory over Southampton.
With Pep Guardiola’s side aiming for a fifth consecutive title, Neville argues that City is now firmly positioned as title favorites, despite acknowledging the unpredictability of the season ahead.
Reflecting on the match, Neville remarked, “Manchester City will drop points at some stage, but this weekend’s result favors them.” He noted that while the season is far from over, City holds the lead and is right where they want to be.
Despite Roy Keane’s recent criticism of Arsenal’s mentality, Neville took a different view, noting that the Gunners’ proximity to City shows resilience even as they work towards finding peak form.
He added that Arsenal’s title hopes could be supported by a stronger second half of the season, with gradual improvement rather than a blazing start. Neville remarked, “It’s ideal to hit peak form in February or March, rather than starting out too strong.”
