Gary Neville has expressed concern over Rasmus Hojlund’s form, admitting he is “worried” about the Manchester United striker’s performances. Following the team’s FA Cup exit against Fulham, Neville believes fans were relieved when Hojlund was substituted. The Danish forward’s struggles continued as his goal drought stretched to 18 matches, adding to Manchester United’s growing frustrations.

Sunday’s FA Cup loss further exposed United’s attacking shortcomings, with Hojlund starting but failing to make an impact. The 21-year-old was replaced in the second half by teenage striker Chido Obi-Martin. Neville, who attended the match as a fan, described the atmosphere as deflated, suggesting the crowd welcomed the change due to Hojlund’s ongoing struggles.

Reflecting on United’s lack of attacking fluency, Neville pointed out the team’s imbalance and lack of pace up front. He criticized the combination of Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee, and Christian Eriksen, arguing they provided little threat. Without attacking full-backs to support them, Neville believes Hojlund is being left isolated, making his situation even more difficult.

Despite acknowledging Hojlund’s potential, Neville fears the young striker is completely lacking confidence. He admitted the situation is “sad” and suggested the pressure is weighing heavily on the £72m signing. With United’s attack looking blunt, their chances of success this season now rest on the Europa League.

The FA Cup defeat to Fulham leaves United with limited hopes for silverware. While some expected improvements under Ruben Amorim after replacing Erik ten Hag, the team remains in 14th place in the Premier League, trailing Liverpool by a staggering 34 points.

Neville also criticized United’s overall play, noting that every visiting team at Old Trafford seems more organized both on and off the ball. He described the stadium atmosphere as “despondent” and the fans as being “down in the dumps” due to the team’s poor performances.

As Manchester United prepares to face Real Sociedad in the Europa League last-16 tie, Hojlund and his teammates must find a way to regain their confidence. With their Premier League campaign faltering, European success remains their last hope of salvaging the season.
