Egyptian national team head coach Hossam Hassan has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title. Following the tournament draw, Egypt was placed in Group B alongside South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe.
In an interview with Cafonline, Hassan acknowledged the competition’s intensity but maintained that Egypt’s goal remains to lift the trophy in Morocco.
“The competition will be tough with strong teams like Morocco, Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal, but we are ready, God willing, to do our best and make Egyptians proud,” he said.
As the most successful team in AFCON history with seven titles, Egypt is determined to add another championship to their record.
“We always aim for championships. With players like Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush, and Trezeguet, along with the talent emerging from top clubs like Al-Ahly and Zamalek, we are well-prepared to compete,” Hassan added.
The Pharaohs will begin their AFCON campaign against Zimbabwe on December 24, followed by matches against Angola on December 28 and South Africa on January 1.
With a mix of experienced stars and promising young talents, Egypt is poised to be a strong contender for the title.
