Injury Concerns for Richarlison and Cristian Romero After Tottenham’s Victory Over Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur’s impressive 4-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday brought more than just a boost in the Premier League standings, as injuries to Richarlison and Cristian Romero cast a shadow over the result.

Spurs, now seventh in the league, turned the game around with goals from Brennan Johnson and James Maddison, supplemented by a brace from Dominic Solanke in the second half.

However, the loss of two key players has raised concerns for manager Ange Postecoglou.

Romero exited the field on the hour mark after a collision with Villa’s Morgan Rogers, showing visible discomfort. Moments later, Richarlison, who had only been on the pitch for 27 minutes after replacing Son Heung-min, sustained an injury while assisting Solanke’s second goal.

Postecoglou shared that Richarlison felt a strain in his hamstring, while Romero reported soreness in his foot. The manager expressed unease about their conditions, noting, “Richy obviously felt something in the action of setting the goal up, his hamstring, so we’ll see,” adding that for Romero to come off, “it must be sore.”

The double blow is especially challenging given Spurs’ current defensive struggles. With Micky van de Ven already sidelined until after the upcoming international break, Tottenham could potentially face their next matches without both first-choice center-backs if Romero’s injury proves significant.

This would leave the team’s defensive line further stretched, with the likes of Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies filling in as necessary.

Spurs have two games before the November break, facing Galatasaray in the Europa League and hosting Ipswich Town in the Premier League.

After the break, they return to Premier League action with a challenging fixture against Manchester City on November 23, having recently defeated them in the Carabao Cup.

While Tottenham’s recent form has been promising, these injuries may test their squad depth in the coming weeks, and fans will be hoping for positive news on both players’ recoveries.
