Jamie Carragher has raised concerns that Manchester United may find it extremely difficult to offload Marcus Rashford due to his hefty wage demands.

The 27-year-old forward, earning £300,000 per week with an additional £75,000 in potential bonuses, was controversially dropped by manager Ruben Amorim for United’s 2-1 win against Manchester City on Sunday.
His exclusion reportedly stemmed from issues related to training performance, attitude, and overall behavior at the club.
Carragher, a Liverpool legend and Sky Sports pundit, weighed in on the situation during Monday Night Football.
He downplayed the significance of Rashford’s omission, stating:
“Is Rashford even in United’s best XI right now? He’s a good player, not a great one. Honestly, we talk about him far too much.
It’s clear he needs to leave the club, but his wages are a major obstacle. Finding a buyer willing to take on that salary could be very difficult.”
Rashford’s performances have been underwhelming this season, with just four goals and one assist in 15 Premier League matches.
His struggles follow a disappointing 2023-24 campaign, where he managed only seven goals in 33 league appearances.
This starkly contrasts his standout 2022-23 season, where he netted 17 goals and provided five assists in 35 games.
Carragher further suggested a mutual parting of ways would ultimately benefit both parties:
“I think it’s inevitable.
The sooner Manchester United and Marcus Rashford move on, the better for everyone involved.”
Rashford, who remains under contract at Old Trafford until 2028, now faces an uncertain future as speculation mounts over whether United will find a solution to his situation.
