Vardy, who has netted six Premier League goals this season, was absent during Leicester’s 3-1 Boxing Day defeat to Liverpool due to a knock.
The Foxes were also without key players, including center-back Wout Faes and first-choice goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, further compounding their struggles.
“Jamie Vardy is one of those [injured players], and Wout Faes is doubtful as well,” Van Nistelrooy explained. “Jamie has a good chance, and hopefully, he can make it. As for [Mads] Hermansen, he’s going to need a bit longer to recover.”
Leicester’s loss at Anfield has left them in 18th place, one point behind 17th-placed Wolves, who have found form under new manager Vitor Pereira, defeating both Leicester and Manchester United in recent matches.
