Ruud van Nistelrooy remains optimistic about Jamie Vardy’s potential return for Leicester City’s critical Premier League match against Manchester City on Sunday.
Vardy, who has netted six Premier League goals this season, was absent during Leicester’s 3-1 Boxing Day defeat to Liverpool due to a knock.
The Foxes were also without key players, including center-back Wout Faes and first-choice goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, further compounding their struggles.

“Jamie Vardy is one of those [injured players], and Wout Faes is doubtful as well,” Van Nistelrooy explained.
“Jamie has a good chance, and hopefully, he can make it. As for [Mads] Hermansen, he’s going to need a bit longer to recover.”
Leicester’s loss at Anfield has left them in 18th place, one point behind 17th-placed Wolves, who have found form under new manager Vitor Pereira, defeating both Leicester and Manchester United in recent matches.
