Gyokeres, currently playing for Sporting CP, has been in sensational form, netting 66 goals in 67 appearances over the past two seasons.
Gyokeres has attracted attention from a number of elite clubs, including Manchester United, who are reportedly leading the race for his signature. With Ruben Amorim set to join United as their new manager, it’s believed that he may bring the Swedish striker with him.
Gyokeres’ recent hat-trick performance against Manchester City in the Champions League only boosted his profile, with Sporting willing to accept a £63 million bid for the forward.
Despite Chelsea’s already strong attacking options, including Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, John Obi Mikel is confident Gyokeres would thrive at the club.
On his Obi One Podcast, Mikel praised the striker’s attributes, saying, “He has every attribute to be a Premier League player, strong, big, quick, and most importantly, goalscoring.”
Mikel also drew comparisons between Gyokeres and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, calling him “fantastic” and noting that his goal-scoring record is one of the best in Europe right now.
With Gyokeres consistently impressing on the field, the former Chelsea star believes he would be an excellent addition to any Premier League team, particularly Chelsea.
For now, though, Chelsea’s focus is on their upcoming Premier League clash against rivals Arsenal, where their current forwards will need to deliver their best performances.
