Joshua Kimmich’s time at Bayern Munich could be nearing its end after reports in Germany revealed the club has withdrawn its contract extension offer. The 30-year-old midfielder, whose deal expires in the summer, had been in talks with Bayern for months, but negotiations have now hit a standstill.
Bayern had already secured contract renewals for key players like Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, and Manuel Neuer, and Kimmich was expected to follow. However, Bild now reports that the club grew frustrated with his hesitation and decided to pull the offer, which included a salary increase.
Despite this latest setback, Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl has insisted the club still wants to extend Kimmich’s deal. “We would like to see him as one of the faces of FC Bayern in the future, but it’s up to him to decide,” Eberl stated.
The uncertainty surrounding Kimmich’s future is set to put top Premier League clubs on high alert. Both Liverpool and Manchester City have been linked with the German international, with the Reds potentially eyeing him as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is out of contract this summer.
Kimmich is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, but with Bayern seemingly preparing for life without him, his summer departure now looks increasingly likely.
