In a surprising twist, Juventus has reportedly offered Dusan Vlahovic to Manchester United in exchange for Joshua Zirkzee.
The deal could see Vlahovic, who has been a target for Premier League clubs in the past, move to Old Trafford while the struggling Zirkzee heads to Turin.
Dusan Vlahovic has been a prominent figure at Juventus since his £64 million move from Fiorentina in early 2022.
Despite showing promise with 41 goals in his final two seasons at Fiorentina, Vlahovic has not quite lived up to expectations at Juventus, although he has still maintained a consistent goal-scoring record.
Now, with his contract entering its final 18 months, the Serbian striker is reportedly available for transfer.
Juventus, looking to bolster their attack, have offered Vlahovic to Manchester United as part of a potential swap deal. In return, they are keen to sign Joshua Zirkzee, who has struggled to find form since joining United.
Zirkzee, a Netherlands international, has only scored four goals in 27 appearances since his £36.5 million move from Bologna last summer.
His performance has been underwhelming, and his recent substitution in the first half against Newcastle United, followed by being dropped to the bench for the Liverpool match, has further raised questions about his future at Old Trafford.
Although Zirkzee has not made the expected impact at Manchester United, manager Ruben Amorim has expressed his desire to keep the player.
Amorim stated that he appreciated Zirkzee’s effort and commitment in training, but the window is open, and anything could happen.
Meanwhile, if Vlahovic were to join United, he would compete with Rasmus Højlund, another striker who has struggled to make an immediate impact since his £70 million move to the Premier League.
Vlahovic’s previous comments about his decision to snub Premier League clubs in favor of Juventus indicate his preference for the Italian club’s style. However, with Juventus struggling in Serie A and facing an uphill battle in the Champions League, Vlahovic could now be open to a move.
