Kai Havertz, known for his pivotal role in Chelsea’s Champions League triumph, has described his move to Arsenal as “the best thing I’ve done.”

The German international first gained recognition at Bayer Leverkusen, setting multiple records as their youngest debutant, scorer, and reaching milestones like 50 and 100 Bundesliga appearances faster than anyone in the club’s history. His performances attracted attention across Europe, leading to a £71m transfer to Chelsea in 2020.

While Havertz delivered mixed results at Stamford Bridge, scoring 32 goals in 139 games, his crowning moment came in the 2021 Champions League final, where his goal secured victory over Manchester City. This achievement earned him a warm spot in the hearts of Chelsea fans, though his £65m switch to Arsenal in 2022 has since tested that loyalty.

At Arsenal, the 25-year-old’s performances have continued to divide opinion. With 23 goals in 71 appearances for the Gunners, Havertz has faced scrutiny but remains a central figure under Mikel Arteta. Despite not yet winning any trophies with Arsenal, Havertz is confident in his decision.

“Joining Arsenal felt like coming home,” Havertz told Sky Sports. “I’ve been here just over a year, but it feels like ages. Everyone has been so supportive, and I’m thrilled to be part of this journey. I’m eager to continue improving, playing well, and eventually winning titles with this team.”

Last season, Havertz played a crucial role in Arsenal’s narrow miss in the Premier League title race, finishing two points behind Manchester City. This season started with promise, though a challenging stretch in October and November briefly derailed Arsenal’s title ambitions.

Reflecting on the season so far, Havertz said, “October and November were tough for the team with all the international travel and demanding fixtures, but we’re back together now, and morale is high. We’re ready to fight for the rest of the season.”

Arsenal’s recent resurgence, with three consecutive victories, has reignited their campaign, leaving them seven points behind league leaders Liverpool after 14 games. Havertz acknowledges the increasing competitiveness of the Premier League but remains optimistic about Arsenal’s trajectory.

“There’s still so much potential in this team,” he added. “We’re constantly developing, and I’m excited for what the future holds. The fight is on, and we’ll be ready to give it our all.”
