Chippa United and Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has expressed his strong desire to play for South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs, calling the PSL giants his “dream club.”

Despite a solid performance for Nigeria in the 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire, Nwabali’s move to Chiefs never materialized, with the club signing Rwandan international Fiacre Ntwari instead.

In a recent interview on MetroFM with Ncube, Nwabali confirmed his admiration for Chiefs, saying, “To be honest, Kaizer Chiefs is one of the clubs I’ve always wanted to play for here in South Africa.

I won’t say I’ve supported them from the start, but I’ve always felt this strong connection and desire to join them.”

He also acknowledged Ntwari’s current success at the club, emphasizing, “The Rwandan guy [Ntwari] is doing very well; I won’t take that away from him. But among all the PSL clubs, Chiefs was the one I hoped to join.”

Currently in his third season at Chippa United, Nwabali joined the club in 2022 and has made seven appearances this season.

Although Chiefs and Orlando Pirates were linked to him after his AFCON performance, both clubs retained their existing options, with Pirates choosing to rely on Sipho Chaine and Melusi Buthelezi.

For now, Nwabali remains committed to Chippa United, where he continues to showcase his skills and await future opportunities in the South African league.
