Eguavoen, currently serving as the caretaker coach, has led the team to an unbeaten run in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, recording three wins and a draw.

The Super Eagles’ consistent performance has sparked calls for Eguavoen’s permanent appointment.

“If I were the NFF president, I’d have given him the job by now,” Kanu told Brila FM. He questioned why the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is waiting to make a decision, adding, “Are we waiting for him to lose two matches before we say he should go? This is overdue; they have to act.”

Kanu emphasized that Eguavoen has shown excellent form by delivering victories, underscoring the importance of maintaining stability and continuity with coaches who are performing well.
