Sevilla manager García Pimienta has hinted at the possibility of Kelechi Iheanacho leaving the club before the winter transfer window closes.
Iheanacho, who joined the LaLiga side on a free transfer last summer, has struggled to secure regular playing time. The 28-year-old is yet to score in nine league appearances but has managed three goals in the Copa del Rey.
The Nigerian international’s lack of form has fueled transfer rumors, with several clubs reportedly interested in acquiring him.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Pimienta shed light on Iheanacho’s current situation.
“After the holidays, Kelechi experienced a minor issue during the first training session. He has received offers from other clubs, but the injury is not serious.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t train yesterday, he’s unavailable today, and he won’t travel for tomorrow’s match,” Pimienta explained.
He added, “While offers have come in, I’m unsure about the seriousness of these inquiries or if a transfer will materialize. For now, he remains sidelined due to minor problems.”
Iheanacho, a former Manchester City striker, may seek a move to rediscover his top form as speculation around his future intensifies.
