Kyle Walker, a vital figure in Manchester City’s historic dominance, has completed a move to AC Milan, ending his remarkable seven-year tenure at the club.
The 34-year-old defender, who arrived in 2017 from Tottenham Hotspur for £50 million, departs with an enviable legacy: 17 trophies, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League.
Walker had flirted with a move to Bayern Munich last summer but stayed on, earning the captaincy for the current season.
Despite his leadership role, the England international has opted for a new challenge, signing a six-month loan deal with AC Milan that includes an option to buy.
In an emotional social media statement, Walker reflected on his time at City, calling his journey “a dream come true.” He expressed pride in his achievements, particularly winning the Champions League and the historic treble.
“Playing alongside world-class players has pushed me to be my best,” he shared. He went on to thank City’s staff, teammates, and manager Pep Guardiola, whose belief in him, he said, “helped shape me into the player I am today.”
Walker also acknowledged his family’s unwavering support and reserved special gratitude for the fans. “Your support, home and away, has meant everything to me. I’ll never forget it.”
Walker’s departure comes during a transformative January transfer window for Manchester City. Following a lackluster end to 2024, the club has been active in reinforcing the squad. Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush joined the ranks alongside defenders Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis.
As Walker embarks on his AC Milan journey, City fans bid farewell to a player whose impact will be remembered as a cornerstone of their golden era.
