Born to a Ghanaian father and a Nigerian mother, Agyekum holds dual nationality, which presents him with an exciting opportunity in his football career. In a recent interview with OGN, he confirmed his eligibility for both nations and emphasized his enthusiasm for a potential call-up to the Super Eagles, despite being officially registered as a Ghanaian player.
“I can play for both nations. That’s one part that people don’t know about me, and if the chance to play for the Super Eagles comes, I won’t say no,” Agyekum stated. He added that he has a deep appreciation for both countries’ football teams, acknowledging their successes and challenges. “I have love for both countries and want to see them do well.”
Agyekum began his football journey with the West African Football Academy in Ghana before moving to Red Bull Salzburg in 2022. His loan at Cercle Brugge has proven fruitful, as he has played a significant role in both domestic and European competitions.
So far this season, he has featured in 13 matches, including four appearances in the Europa League, showcasing his talent and growing experience on the European stage.
With Agyekum eager for a Super Eagles opportunity, fans will be watching closely as he continues to develop in Belgium.
