At 37, Messi has enjoyed an unparalleled career, first at Barcelona, where he netted 672 goals in 778 appearances and secured ten La Liga titles along with four Champions League trophies.
He later achieved international success, helping Argentina clinch the 2022 World Cup and two consecutive Copa Americas.
In a recent interview, Messi shared that he has no intentions of becoming a football manager, even as former players like Pep Guardiola, Xavi, and Mikel Arteta transition into top coaching positions.
“I wouldn’t like to be a coach,” he explained, adding, “I’m someone who likes to live day by day, just focusing on playing, training, and enjoying the game.”
Currently with Inter Miami in the MLS, Messi has already made an impact, scoring 33 goals in 37 games and leading the club to its first-ever Leagues Cup title.
Reflecting on his adjustment to a new league, he noted, “I’ve changed my style of play, adapting to the moment, the situation, and my age. Building a club involves winning titles, and that’s what we’ve aimed for since my arrival.”
As for his participation in the 2026 World Cup, Messi remains uncertain, stating, “I hope to finish this year well and start the next with a good preseason.
After that, I’ll see how I feel.” With a preference for focusing on the present, Messi leaves his post-retirement plans open-ended, taking life one day at a time.
