Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has issued a stark warning about Mohamed Salah’s uncertain future, suggesting the club will struggle to replace him if he departs at the end of the season.
With his contract set to expire, Salah could walk away for free, leaving a massive void in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
At 32, Salah remains a dominant force, leading the Premier League goal-scoring charts and netting 28 times across all competitions this season.
His tally of 239 goals in 385 appearances highlights his irreplaceable impact. However, his contract situation remains unresolved, casting a shadow over Liverpool’s otherwise stellar campaign.
Salah isn’t the only key player in limbo Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold also face uncertain futures as their contracts near expiration.

While Liverpool remain at the top of the table, these unresolved deals pose a significant concern.
Speaking to BoyleSports, Fowler emphasized how irreplaceable Salah is, stating, “Whoever replaces him will be a downgrade. His numbers are phenomenal, and even when he’s not at his best, he delivers game-changing moments.”
He urged the club to do everything possible to retain the Egyptian star, warning that losing him would be a major setback for Liverpool’s ambitions in the Premier League and Europe.
While Fowler is adamant about Salah’s importance, he takes a different stance on Darwin Nunez.

The Uruguayan striker has struggled to cement a starting role under both Klopp and new manager Arne Slot. With just six goals this season, Nunez’s future at Anfield appears uncertain.
Fowler believes Liverpool could be open to offers for Nunez, but ultimately, the decision rests with the player. “If he’s happy being a squad player, he can stay, but I don’t see him becoming a regular starter,” Fowler said.
Liverpool’s title push continues with a crucial trip to Aston Villa on Wednesday. A victory would extend their lead at the top to 10 points, though second-placed Arsenal would have a game in hand.
