Arne Slot has shrugged off speculation tying Liverpool to Napoli’s rising star, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Refusing to delve into the transfer rumors, the Reds boss remained tight-lipped about the club’s potential interest in the Georgian forward.
Kvaratskhelia, a key figure in Antonio Conte’s title-chasing Napoli squad, has already netted five goals in 17 Serie A appearances this season.
Napoli, sitting three points clear atop the table, is keen to retain the 23-year-old, holding talks to extend his contract beyond its current 2027 expiry. However, with no agreement in sight, a lucrative deal could pry him away.
Paris Saint-Germain has emerged as a front-runner, with reports suggesting they’re prepared to quadruple Kvaratskhelia’s salary. Yet, Premier League giants Liverpool and Chelsea are also reportedly monitoring the £67m-rated winger.
Slot, when questioned about Liverpool’s supposed interest, dismissed the chatter as typical of the January transfer window.
“I said after the West Ham game, don’t disappoint me; come up with all these clubs and players linked to us. That’s what’s happening now,” Slot remarked. He added, “Nine out of 10, 99 out of 100 times, it turns out these stories aren’t true. So no comments from our side.”
While Napoli hopes to retain Kvaratskhelia, they might consider selling if Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford becomes a feasible replacement. Reports suggest Rashford could be available on loan, with United potentially covering half of his hefty £325,000-a-week salary.
As speculation intensifies, Premier League clubs may need to act quickly, as PSG appears poised to finalize their offer for the Serie A sensation.
