Liverpool are reportedly planning a move for Brighton striker Joao Pedro as part of their 2025 transfer strategy, with talks expected to start as early as January.

The 23-year-old Brazilian joined Brighton from Watford in 2023 for £30m and has had an impressive start to life on the South Coast, scoring 20 goals across all competitions in his debut season.
Despite being hampered by injury this term, he has still managed to find the net four times in just nine appearances, adding three assists.
Brazilian outlet UOL has suggested that Liverpool have been closely monitoring Pedro’s progress and are ready to make their move next summer.
The Reds are said to have followed his development for years, and are now planning to open negotiations with Brighton in the upcoming transfer window.
Pedro’s contract with Brighton runs until the summer of 2028, which could make any potential deal more complicated.
Should Liverpool secure Pedro’s signature, it would represent another high-profile transfer between the two clubs, following the 2023 move of Alexis Mac Allister to Anfield for an initial £35m, which could rise to £55m with add-ons.
While Brighton’s asking price for Pedro remains unclear, it is expected to exceed the £30m they paid for him just over a year ago. For Liverpool, signing Pedro would also signal a shift in their attacking options, potentially spelling the end of Darwin Núñez’s time as a regular starter.
The Uruguayan has struggled to find his form and faced criticism from fans, despite his continued involvement in the team.
After a disappointing performance in Liverpool’s 1-0 Champions League win over Girona, manager Slot commented on Núñez’s struggles, saying, “Every striker goes through dry spells, but we’re fortunate to have many players who can score. I hope Darwin finds his confidence soon.”
