Liverpool have dismissed any possibility of selling Darwin Nunez before the January transfer window closes, despite receiving inquiries from Al-Nassr.

The Uruguayan striker, who joined from Benfica in a record-breaking deal worth up to £85m, has struggled to meet expectations, netting only four league goals this season.

New manager Arne Slot has often preferred other attacking options, starting Nunez in less than a third of Liverpool’s league matches.

His inconsistency has led to criticism from club legends like Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler, with both questioning his suitability for the team.

Although Liverpool rejected Al-Nassr’s approach, they are not ruling out a summer sale, expecting significant interest in Nunez at the end of the season. Meanwhile, the Saudi side is now targeting Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface or Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran.

Liverpool, currently leading the Premier League by six points, are set to conclude their Champions League group stage campaign against PSV. With qualification secured, Slot has opted to rest several key players for the fixture.
