Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has been advised to leave Anfield to secure regular first-team football, with Chelsea reportedly interested in the Irish international as a solution to their goalkeeping woes.

Kelleher, 26, has stepped up impressively in recent weeks, starting Liverpool’s last eight games due to Alisson Becker’s injury sustained during the victory over Crystal Palace on October 5. Ex-England striker Darren Bent weighed in on the situation, comparing Kelleher’s potential move to Chelsea with Emiliano Martinez’s breakout transfer from Arsenal to Aston Villa in 2020.
“I look at Emiliano Martinez,” Bent told talkSPORT. “He was at Arsenal for like ten years, got an opportunity, excelled, and then moved on to Aston Villa. Now, he’s a World Cup winner.
“Kelleher is 25; it’s time now. He’s a very good goalkeeper, and there’s an opportunity at Chelsea. I’m not convinced about Robert Sanchez — he’s good but inconsistent. For £35m, Kelleher would be a bargain and a great fit for Chelsea.”
