Liverpool manager Arne Slot has urged his side to remain cautious ahead of their Premier League clash with Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday. While the Reds sit comfortably atop the table, United languish in 14th after a dismal run of three straight league defeats.

Slot’s Liverpool have a chance to extend their lead over Arsenal to eight points with a win, but the Dutch manager refuses to take anything for granted. Writing in his matchday program, Slot emphasized that form often takes a backseat in high-stakes rivalries like this one.

“Relying on the league table to predict today’s outcome is a mistake,” Slot wrote. “This game is about performance on the day, not past results. United may be in a tough moment, but matches like these are where teams often find their motivation to turn things around.”

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United squad has faced criticism for its lackluster performances this season, but Slot acknowledged the club’s ambition and recent transfer moves. “United is a club built on planning and investment for success,” Slot remarked. “Their summer transfer activity showed their ambition, but meaningful progress takes time.”

Amorim, meanwhile, admitted his team is struggling mentally. “The players are anxious, sometimes afraid on the pitch,” Amorim said. “We need leaders to step up and help the team through this moment. It’s my responsibility to improve performances and rebuild confidence.”

Liverpool approach the match with relatively few injury concerns. Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley are back in training and could feature, but Joe Gomez remains sidelined with a hamstring issue sustained against West Ham.

“Joe’s injury will keep him out for a few weeks,” Slot confirmed. “Conor and Ibou are back in training, and we’ll see how they handle team sessions. The rest of the squad appears fit, barring any last-minute sickness.”
