Liverpool’s Boxing Day Premier League match against Leicester City is still set to go ahead despite thick fog blanketing Merseyside.
The match, scheduled for an 8pm kickoff at Anfield, has sparked concerns over visibility both on and off the pitch.
Contrary to reports of a planned 4pm pitch inspection, Liverpool have confirmed there is no such inspection scheduled.
However, the club has issued a warning to fans, urging them to take extra precautions when traveling to the stadium due to the adverse weather conditions.
A statement from Liverpool’s supporter services read:
“If you are coming to the match today, please ensure you set off earlier than usual due to foggy conditions in and around Anfield stadium. Please take care when travelling.”
While the club expects the game to proceed as planned, the fog has already disrupted other sporting events in the area.
Earlier in the day, Tranmere Rovers’ League Two fixture against Accrington Stanley was postponed due to the poor visibility at Prenton Park.
With Liverpool aiming to maintain their strong run under manager Arne Slot, fans will hope the weather clears enough to ensure a safe and uninterrupted evening of football at Anfield.
