Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has been awarded the title of Player of the Month for September, a recognition that highlights his impressive performances for the club during the period. The 26-year-old Nigerian international has emerged as a fan favorite, contributing significantly to Atalanta’s strong start to the season with two goals and one assist.
The club announced the award on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, praising Lookman for his decisive impact in several matches. Notably, he played a crucial role in Atalanta’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Fiorentina, where he not only provided the assist for the equalizer but also scored the match-winning goal, earning him the MVP accolade for that game.
Lookman also scored from the penalty spot in a 3-2 loss to Como, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure. His consistency has extended into the UEFA Champions League, where he has contributed a goal and an assist in two matches.
The award was determined by fan votes through Atalanta’s official app, with supporters particularly impressed by Lookman’s dribbling, creativity, and finishing skills. Serbian midfielder Lazar Samardžić finished second in the voting, while last month’s winner, Mateo Retegui, placed third.
Despite a setback during international duty, where two of his goals were controversially disallowed in Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Libya in the AFCON qualifiers, Lookman remains focused on maintaining his stellar form. He is determined to make an impact in the upcoming second leg against Libya as the Super Eagles aim to secure their place in AFCON 2025.
