Madrid Face Test Against Betis in Must-Win La Liga Clash

Madrid travel to Betis on Saturday, looking to reclaim the top spot in La Liga. Los Blancos are currently second, level on points with Barcelona, who lead based on the head-to-head record. Betis, sitting seventh, are battling for a European spot in the 2025-26 season and will be determined to challenge the visitors.

Betis have recorded nine wins, eight draws, and eight defeats in 25 league matches, accumulating 35 points. Their recent 2-1 victory over Getafe has given them confidence, and they have suffered just one loss in their last five La Liga games. They also remain active in Europe, preparing for a Conference League last-16 clash against Vitoria de Guimaraes.

Real Madrid secured a 1-0 Copa del Rey semi-final first-leg win over Real Sociedad on Wednesday, following a dominant 2-0 La Liga victory against Girona. They will go top if they avoid defeat, with third-placed Atletico Madrid playing later in the evening and Barcelona set to host Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Betis will have Antony available after his red card against Getafe was overturned. The on-loan Manchester United winger has impressed since arriving in January, scoring three goals and providing two assists in five appearances.

Madrid will be without Bellingham due to suspension, while Vallejo and Ceballos join Carvajal and Militao on the injury list. Mbappe is set to return after missing the last match due to a dental issue, and Courtois and Valverde are also expected to feature. Modric could replace the injured Ceballos in midfield, while Vazquez, Rodrygo, and Mendy may return to the starting lineup.

Real Madrid have drawn their last two away matches against Betis, and another stalemate would not be surprising. However, with Mbappe back in action, Los Blancos have the attacking firepower to secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory and strengthen their title bid.
