Manchester United are actively searching for an attacking reinforcement as Marcus Rashford prepares to join Aston Villa on loan.
The 26-year-old forward is set to move for the remainder of the season, with Villa covering 70% of his £325,000-a-week wages. The deal also includes a £40 million option for a permanent transfer in the summer.
With Rashford’s departure imminent, United have already approached Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel, but the youngster recently rejected a move to Tottenham.
Now, reports from The Athletic suggest that United are also considering Leon Bailey, who could be available for a loan deal if Villa agree.
Bailey, 27, was a key player for Villa last season, contributing 10 goals and nine assists in the Premier League. However, his current form has dipped, with only one league goal and two assists this campaign. Villa initially signed the Jamaican international from Bayer Leverkusen for £25 million in 2021.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery confirmed his squad is looking to make three signings before the transfer window closes. Following a 2-0 loss to Wolves, Emery stated that the club needs replacements for Diego Carlos, Emi Buendia, and Jhon Duran.
Villa have already secured Marco Asensio on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, while Rashford is scheduled for a medical on Sunday.
As the deadline approaches, United will have to act quickly if they want to bring Bailey to Old Trafford.
