Altay Bayindir’s future at Manchester United has been a topic of much speculation, especially after his lack of playing time since joining from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023. The goalkeeper has only made four appearances for the club, primarily serving as backup to Andre Onana.
Despite his limited opportunities, his agent, Sefa Seyrek, revealed that there has been interest from both Premier League and European clubs. However, Seyrek emphasized that Bayindir has no plans to leave Manchester United anytime soon.
The 26-year-old’s position at the club was further questioned following his disappointing performance in a Carabao Cup match against Tottenham, where he conceded four goals, including one from a corner kick.
This error sparked more doubts about his role under manager Erik ten Hag, with reports suggesting that both Bayindir and Onana might be replaced, with Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier mentioned as a potential replacement.
Despite the growing uncertainty surrounding his future, Seyrek shared that while there are clubs interested in signing Bayindir, he remains committed to Manchester United.
Seyrek stated that United does not intend to let him go. As for his role under Ten Hag, Bayindir’s next opportunity to prove himself may come during the FA Cup third-round clash against Arsenal on January 12.
After the Carabao Cup exit to Spurs, Ten Hag defended Bayindir, who had come under fire for his error. Ten Hag expressed that there was no need for Bayindir to apologize and emphasized the importance of team cohesion, saying, “We win together, lose together. It’s not about the individual, it’s about the team.”
