The Portuguese manager has quickly gained favor at Old Trafford after securing two wins from his first three games in charge.
His tactics and the team’s noticeable improvement have earned him enthusiastic support, including a chant to the tune of Give It Up by KC and the Sunshine Band.
Amorim’s Honest Take on the Chant
During his pre-match press conference ahead of United’s clash with Arsenal, Amorim shared his thoughts on the growing fan connection:
“I don’t like my chant. I feel a little bit… not embarrassed, but I’m the coach. They should chant for the players and the club.”
While expressing appreciation for the sentiment, the 39-year-old encouraged supporters to shift their focus to the team:
“I’m really honored, and I feel a connection with the supporters, but we know that we need results to maintain that.”
Focus on Arsenal
Looking ahead to Wednesday’s match against Arsenal, Amorim emphasized the importance of being tactical and resilient:
“It’s the best team we’ve faced, by far. Arsenal are in a different moment as a team. It’s important to be brave—not just pressing high, but understanding the game’s moments.”
He also stressed United’s need to control possession:
“We need to have the ball. It’s key to dominate some moments because in matches like these, controlling the whole game is hard.”
Amorim’s Early Impact
Despite his humility, Amorim may have to grow accustomed to such adoration if he continues to guide United out of their post-Ferguson decline. The club’s victory over Everton and promising performances have already sparked optimism among fans.
As Amorim prepares for his toughest test yet against a high-flying Arsenal side, the growing connection between him and the Old Trafford faithful signals hope for a brighter future at Manchester United.
