A Star Emerges Under Amorim
The 22-year-old Ivorian played a pivotal role in United’s commanding 4-0 victory over Everton, contributing two assists and playing a crucial part in a third goal.
Deployed in an unconventional right wing-back role, Diallo showcased his adaptability and pressing ability, earning accolades from Amorim.
“He’s really big in talent but small in size,” Amorim said. “He did a great job but has areas to improve. He’s smart, explosive, and worked tirelessly.”
A New Lease of Life at Old Trafford
Diallo’s opportunities were limited under former manager Erik ten Hag, but Amorim appears determined to maximize the winger’s potential.
Having started two of Amorim’s three matches in charge, Diallo is already proving integral to the Portuguese manager’s tactical plans.
However, Diallo’s contract poses an immediate challenge. His current deal expires at the end of the season, and while United hold the option to extend it by 12 months, they must act before January 1, 2025.
Failure to do so could see the player eligible to negotiate with other clubs.
United Seek Long-Term Agreement
Reports from The Telegraph indicate that Manchester United is keen to avoid relying solely on the 12-month extension clause.
The club is intent on securing a long-term deal to ward off potential suitors.
Diallo, who joined United from Atalanta for £37m in 2020, is reportedly happy at the club and eager to continue his development under Amorim. A new contract would likely include a significant salary increase, reflecting his growing importance at Old Trafford.
The Road Ahead
Amad Diallo’s resurgence comes at a critical time for Manchester United as they seek stability and consistency. His performances under Amorim suggest a bright future, but securing his services for the long term will be crucial for the club’s ambitions.
The coming weeks will determine whether Diallo remains a cornerstone of United’s evolving squad or becomes a target for rivals.
