Ruben Amorim is hopeful that Manchester United can conclude their incoming transfer dealings before next week’s deadline, but he warned that the club must proceed carefully to avoid making mistakes in the negotiation process.
United is close to finalizing the signing of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce for an initial £25 million, which would mark the first signing under Amorim’s leadership at Old Trafford.
Additionally, the club is targeting 19-year-old Mathys Tel, a forward from Bayern Munich who is set to leave this month. United faces competition from Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Aston Villa, but reports suggest that Tel prefers a move to Manchester.

There is still significant work to be done on the outgoing front. Marcus Rashford’s future remains uncertain, while Chelsea is preparing to make a late move for Alejandro Garnacho, whom United is open to selling for the right price.
Ahead of their Europa League clash against Steaua Bucharest, Amorim emphasized that the club is working tirelessly to finalize transfers ahead of the Monday deadline. However, he stressed that success is not guaranteed, urging patience and careful planning.
“The most important thing is improving the team,” Amorim told TNT Sports. “Everyone is doing everything to make that happen, but sometimes it doesn’t depend just on the club or the player. We are focused on strengthening the team but are equally focused on avoiding mistakes that could haunt us in the future.”

United has made acquiring a left-sided player capable of playing wing-back a priority this transfer window, with Dorgu expected to be the first signing. The 20-year-old has impressed in his second season with Lecce since his €200,000 (£175,000) move from FC Nordsjaelland in 2022.
Meanwhile, Tel, who appeared to bid farewell to Bayern fans this week, has started just four matches this season. United is keen on bringing him in on loan, with discussions taking place with his representatives instead of directly with Bayern Munich.
