Bruno Fernandes believes that Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim is proving his capability for a top managerial position after an impressive run in Portugal. Since taking charge in 2020, Amorim has led Sporting to two Primeira Liga titles, garnering significant attention in the football world.

Despite being linked to a potential move to Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp’s successor, Amorim has chosen to stay at Sporting, although speculation about a transfer to a larger European league continues.

Currently, Sporting sits atop the Primeira Liga with eight wins from eight matches, and Fernandes, who left the club to join Manchester United, appreciates the progress made under Amorim. He stated, “Since Mr. Amorim arrived at Sporting, it has been one of the teams to practice better football. They have been consistent, the signings have been right, and they are in a very good moment. It’s a very well-prepared team.”

Fernandes further emphasized Amorim’s achievements, noting, “Coaching Sporting and winning championships is not easy. Sporting went 20 years without winning championships, and Amorim arrived and has already won two. This shows that the work has been done well.”

Amorim is viewed as a potential candidate for the Manchester United manager position, although Erik ten Hag currently remains in charge. However, with United’s poor start to the season, Ten Hag’s position is increasingly uncertain. While other candidates like Ruud van Nistelrooy and Thomas Tuchel are seen as stronger prospects, Amorim could also be in contention if the club decides to make a change.
