Manchester United are reportedly preparing for another major player exit as the January transfer window nears its conclusion.

Manager Ruben Amorim, who has already loaned out £82m signing Antony to Real Betis, is said to be considering departures for Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, and Rasmus Hojlund.

Rashford has attracted interest from top clubs, including Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona, but his high wages are proving a stumbling block for potential suitors.

Casemiro, meanwhile, is being targeted by Saudi clubs, with Besiktas manager and former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer interested in signing the Brazilian midfielder.

The most surprising development concerns Rasmus Hojlund. The £72m striker, brought in from Atalanta in 2023, has struggled to replicate his early success.

After a promising first season with 16 goals, his form has dipped significantly, managing just two league goals this campaign.

Hojlund’s performance in United’s recent 1-0 victory over Fulham drew heavy criticism. Rio Ferdinand, speaking after the match, pointed to the striker’s inability to hold up the ball, which disrupted United’s attacking play.

“He gave the ball away ten times in the first half and was subbed at halftime. United can’t move forward if their No. 9 can’t hold possession,” Ferdinand said.

Robbie Earle expressed similar concerns during his analysis on NBC Sports. “Hojlund has potential, but his attitude and work rate are questionable.

He throws his arms up like a superstar who isn’t getting service. United might decide it’s better to sell him and recoup funds,” Earle commented.

Manager Ruben Amorim acknowledged Hojlund’s struggles, attributing some of the issues to a lack of training time. “He wants it badly, but there’s a disconnect in his game.

Sometimes he’s out of position, and we don’t have time to fix it with training. He has a lot to improve, but he’s determined to get better,” Amorim explained.

Despite the criticism, Amorim praised Hojlund’s desire to train harder and improve his game. However, as the team remains 12th in the Premier League table, 12 points adrift of the Champions League spots, United may opt for drastic measures to reinvigorate their squad.

With the clock ticking on the transfer window, fans await to see if Hojlund or another high-profile player will be the next to leave Old Trafford.
