Manchester United are actively seeking reinforcements up front and have identified a four-man shortlist for a potential new striker, reports suggest.

Among the top targets is Nigerian forward Victor Boniface, who has been making waves with Bayer Leverkusen.

Boniface, 23, has already netted eight goals in 15 appearances this season for the German champions. The powerful striker, capped 11 times by Nigeria, played a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s title-winning campaign last season, scoring 14 goals in 23 league matches under manager Xabi Alonso.

Despite being tied to Leverkusen until 2028, United are reportedly keen to bring him to Old Trafford, though a significant financial outlay would be required to secure his services.

Boniface isn’t the only Nigerian on United’s radar. The club is also monitoring Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray from Napoli. With a €75 million release clause set to activate in January, Osimhen presents another compelling option for the Red Devils.

In addition to Boniface and Osimhen, Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush are also under consideration. Marmoush, an Egyptian international, could be acquired for a fee in the range of €50-60 million (£42-50 million), while Kolo Muani, who joined PSG for €95 million last year, has struggled for form and could be offloaded by the French club.

Manchester United’s pursuit of attacking reinforcements comes during a transitional period for the club, as new manager Ruben Amorim aims to stamp his authority following the departure of Erik ten Hag.

Amorim’s tenure began with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town, and the Portuguese coach will look to secure his first victory when United face Bodo/Glimt on Thursday.

This comprehensive approach to upgrading their strike force signals United’s ambition to revitalize their attack and regain competitive momentum in domestic and European competitions.
