Bruno Fernandes endured another disappointing performance as Manchester United suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Brighton at Old Trafford.

Despite Fernandes’ penalty pulling the hosts level after Yankuba Minteh’s early goal, Brighton regained the lead through Kaoru Mitoma and sealed their victory in the 76th minute thanks to Andre Onana’s blunder, allowing Georginio Rutter to capitalize.

This loss marks United’s continued struggles as they sit 13th in the Premier League, just ten points clear of the relegation zone.

Ruben Amorim, the United head coach, expressed frustration in his post-match remarks, acknowledging his side’s woeful form, even suggesting they might be one of the worst teams in Manchester United’s history.

“We have to change this,” he admitted, despite maintaining his commitment to his 3-4-3 system.

Fernandes, visibly frustrated, criticized his team’s lack of “bravery” and spirit, questioning how playing at Old Trafford could still be seen as a challenge.

Meanwhile, Brighton’s Carlos Baleba made sure to celebrate his side’s victory in style, posting a video of him dancing through the tunnel, rubbing further salt in United’s wounds.

Brighton’s young stars, Baleba and Yasin Ayari, earned praise for their maturity and impressive performances, especially from manager Fabian Hurzeler, who highlighted their growth after earlier setbacks.

Hurzeler’s focus on developing a team that can compete in the Premier League continues to pay off, with Baleba and Ayari proving themselves capable of handling big moments at a young age.
