Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a new backup goalkeeper after growing concerns that Altay Bayindir might seek to leave the club.

The Turkish international, who joined from Fenerbahce in 2023, has yet to make a Premier League appearance and has only featured in one Carabao Cup match. As Andre Onana’s understudy, Bayindir is becoming frustrated by his lack of opportunities.

With Bayindir potentially pushing for an exit in the upcoming January transfer window, United are already exploring the market for a new number two keeper to provide competition for Onana.

Currently, third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton is expected to leave at the end of the season when his contract expires, further adding to United’s dilemma.

However, the club is facing financial constraints, with limited funds available for January. Following a £200m spend in the summer, United recouped only £110m from player sales, including Mason Greenwood, Scott McTominay, and Donny van de Beek. With around £440m in outstanding transfer fees, United will likely need to sell players before making any further purchases.
