The Paraguayan talent made his debut in August and has since become a key player, starting 19 league matches.

With Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia sidelined due to injuries, United have been on the lookout for a new left-back, having previously discussed a potential move for RB Leipzig’s David Raum ahead of January.

However, they have now made their first signing under manager Ruben Amorim, securing Leon for the summer of 2025. The young defender will stay with Cerro Porteno for the remainder of the current season, aiming to compete in the upcoming Copa Libertadores.

Leon himself expressed excitement over playing in the prestigious tournament next year, sharing his hopes of representing his current club before his move to Manchester.

In a recent interview, Leon revealed that he had been preparing for this moment for years and was overwhelmed with excitement on the eve of his debut. His agent is handling the transfer details, as Leon remains focused on his future with Cerro Porteno.

Cerro’s vice-president, Juan Carlos Pettengill, confirmed that the young star will stay at the club until he turns 18, ensuring he completes the season in Paraguay.
