Manchester United Tipped for Two Huge Signings as Club Eyes Alexander Isak

Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham has hinted at potential January reinforcements for his former club, suggesting they might secure two significant signings before the transfer deadline.

He urged the Red Devils to rival Arsenal in their pursuit of Alexander Isak, labeling the Swedish striker as an ideal addition to Old Trafford.

United’s inconsistency was on full display during their 3-1 loss to Brighton at Old Trafford last Saturday.

This result follows a mixed run of form, including a 2-2 draw with league leaders Liverpool, a hard-fought FA Cup victory over Arsenal despite being down to ten men for an hour, and a narrow escape against bottom-placed Southampton, where three late goals saved them from embarrassment.

The defeat marked United’s fourth loss in six Premier League games, leaving them languishing in 13th place—closer to the relegation zone than to Champions League qualification spots.

Head coach Ruben Amorim, who previously indicated he would wait until summer to revamp his squad, may now explore options in the January market to address the team’s struggles.

Sheringham, speaking to BoyleSports, expressed optimism about United’s chances of landing big names, even in a challenging transfer window. “I wouldn’t be surprised to see two big January signings at Manchester United,” Sheringham said.

“It’s tough to attract top players mid-season, but United need an overall upgrade. While they have good players, they lack the elite talent that once defined the club.”

Alexander Isak, currently at Newcastle and valued at over £100m, has drawn interest from Arsenal. However, Sheringham believes the 15-goal striker could be a transformative figure for United.

“Playing for Manchester United is still a massive draw. Isak would be the perfect signing—he’s confident, leads the line well, and could set the tone for the team,” Sheringham added.

Meanwhile, United have also been linked with Viktor Gyokeres, the Sporting Lisbon forward who has scored an astonishing 76 goals in 81 games since his move from Coventry City in 2023.

Gyokeres could provide competition for Rasmus Hojlund, who has netted just twice in the league this season, and Joshua Zirkzee, whose future at the club remains uncertain.

Amorim’s squad will return to action on Thursday in the Europa League against Rangers before facing Fulham in the Premier League next weekend.
