Fulham head coach Marco Silva confirmed that Super Eagles players Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi are set to feature in today’s match against Aston Villa. The duo participated in Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Libya before facing significant challenges during their trip to Libya for the second leg. After being redirected to an airport 300 km away, they and their teammates endured over 14 hours without food or internet access.
Now back at Fulham, Silva noted that both players are in a good mental state to compete against Villa at Craven Cottage. In his pre-match press conference, he expressed concern over Libya’s treatment of the Nigerian team, stating, “It’s not something professional… it’s not something that should be involved in football.”
Fulham currently sits 8th in the Premier League, with eleven points from seven games. The match against Villa kicks off at 3:00 PM WAT.
