Marcus Rashford has expressed a desire to leave Manchester United and is reportedly eyeing a move to a top club in La Liga, with Barcelona and Real Madrid as his preferred destinations.

The 27-year-old forward hinted earlier this week that he’s ready for a “new challenge” after spending his entire career at Old Trafford.

Speaking to Henry Winter, Rashford said, “When I leave it’s going to be, ‘no hard feelings.’ I’ve seen how other players have left in the past, and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave, I’ll make a statement, and it will be from me.”

However, his potential options are limited due to his £325,000-a-week salary, which restricts the number of clubs capable of affording him.

While Paris Saint-Germain has been listed as a potential destination, the French club has already passed on signing Rashford twice before.

According to reports, Rashford’s preference is a move to either Barcelona or Real Madrid. Yet, a transfer to La Liga seems unlikely at this stage, with Barcelona grappling with financial difficulties and Real Madrid focusing on Kylian Mbappé, their marquee summer signing.

An alternative could come from the Saudi Pro League, where top clubs such as Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, and Al-Ahli have shown interest in acquiring Rashford’s services. United, meanwhile, are said to value the forward at £40 million.

Rashford’s uncertain future comes as Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim remains focused on maximizing the forward’s potential for the team.

“This kind of club needs big talent, and he’s a big talent,” Amorim said. “I want to help Marcus perform at the highest level. We are better with Marcus Rashford, and that’s simple.”

Despite Rashford’s omission from England’s Euro 2024 squad earlier this year, his contributions remain critical for United.

Whether he stays to finish the current campaign or secures a move in January, Rashford’s next steps will significantly shape the trajectory of his career.
