Rashford, once a pivotal figure at Old Trafford, seems to have fallen out of favor under head coach Ruben Amorim, raising doubts about his future with the Red Devils.
The England international began the season brightly, netting three goals in his first two Premier League matches under Amorim.
However, he’s since been left out of United’s last four matchday squads. Amorim has attributed this exclusion to a lack of effort in training, even as United struggle for form.
Following their 2-0 Boxing Day defeat to Wolves, Amorim stood firm on his decision, saying:
“We have to remain professionals, whether we’re winning or losing. My approach will not change, even in tough times.”
Adding to the uncertainty, Rashford recently expressed his desire for a “new challenge” in a December interview, further fueling speculation about his departure. Despite interest from various clubs, reports suggest United are not looking to sell the 27-year-old permanently until the summer.
Instead, a loan deal could be on the table, giving Rashford a chance to regain form and boost his market value, similar to how Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho benefited from temporary moves before securing permanent transfers.
Clubs Linked to Rashford
Betfair odds highlight several potential destinations for Rashford:
- PSG (7/2)
- Any Saudi Pro League club (6/1)
- Barcelona (7/1)
- Arsenal (8/1)
- Chelsea (11/1)
- Atletico Madrid (14/1)
- Newcastle, Tottenham, Man City (20/1)
One club that has been linked is Tottenham Hotspur. Manager Ange Postecoglou is reportedly keen on bolstering his attacking options in January.
However, The Athletic reports that Spurs have no interest in Rashford. The club prefers signing younger players under 23 and sees no fit for the forward in their current setup.
Tottenham’s left flank is already dominated by captain Son Heung-min, making Rashford unlikely to secure a starting spot. Additionally, the club’s focus is on finding cover for striker Dominic Solanke rather than another winger. Rashford’s £325,000-a-week wages also pose a significant hurdle, even for a loan deal.
When questioned about transfer links, Postecoglou downplayed the rumors:
“If I paid attention to every player we were linked to, I’d have no time for anything else. We’re committed to sticking to our plan and vision.”
As speculation continues, Rashford’s return to Manchester United’s lineup remains uncertain. Amorim’s side next faces Newcastle on Monday, December 30. Whether Rashford will feature in the squad or move elsewhere to revive his career is yet
