Former Chelsea defender Mario Melchiot has voiced his frustration with Chelsea’s approach in their 1-1 draw against Arsenal, suggesting the team missed an opportunity by not focusing more on exploiting Ben White’s discomfort.

Melchiot observed that Arsenal’s right-back appeared “irritated” when challenged by Chelsea winger Pedro Neto, who was switched from the left to the right flank just before scoring the equalizer.
Melchiot believes that Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca could have pressed the advantage by keeping Neto on White’s side, where the winger had managed to unsettle Arsenal’s defense.
“White was tested by Neto, and he didn’t like it,” Melchiot explained, adding that the Chelsea winger’s tenacity created instability for White, who usually handles speedy opponents without issue.
Melchiot further noted that Chelsea could have capitalized on this dynamic, maintaining the pressure on Arsenal’s defense to maximize their advantage on the right.
This tactical insight highlights Chelsea’s potential missed opportunity to secure a more favorable result in what was an intense Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.
