Ben Foster has ruled out the possibility of Emiliano Martinez joining Chelsea, stating that the Argentine goalkeeper would likely turn down the move. Chelsea has been linked with a new shot-stopper, but Foster insists Martinez would prefer to stay at Aston Villa.

When asked if Martinez could join Real Madrid, Foster was skeptical. He pointed out that with Thibaut Courtois already established as one of the world’s top goalkeepers, Madrid has no need to sign another No.1.

“Thibaut… He’s already one of the best in the world,” Foster said, dismissing any speculation about Madrid seeking a replacement.

Martinez’s Journey from Arsenal to Aston Villa

Martinez spent 10 years at Arsenal, waiting for his chance to prove himself. In 2020, he finally got his opportunity, helping the Gunners win the FA Cup before being sold to Aston Villa.

Despite his strong performances, Arsenal couldn’t fully guarantee him the starting role. Even after excelling in the Community Shield, he remained uncertain about his place in the squad.

Frustrated by the lack of commitment from the club, Martinez made the difficult decision to leave. “I left as No.1, and that was my story done there,” he recalled.

What’s Next for Martinez?

Since arriving at Aston Villa, Martinez has cemented his reputation as one of the Premier League’s best goalkeepers. His consistency has attracted interest from top clubs, but his future remains uncertain.

While Chelsea might be in the market for a new goalkeeper, Martinez’s past decisions suggest he values stability and a guaranteed starting role. Real Madrid, on the other hand, remains an unlikely destination with Courtois still their first choice.

For now, Martinez is focused on his performances at Villa, continuing to prove himself as one of the league’s standout goalkeepers.
