Matty Cash has assured Aston Villa fans that he’ll “be back stronger” after picking up an injury in the club’s 4-2 victory over Celtic on Wednesday. The right-back was forced off after just 30 minutes, seemingly suffering a calf issue, and was replaced by John McGinn.
Despite his early exit, Villa secured their place in the Champions League last 16, with Morgan Rogers scoring a hat-trick and Ollie Watkins adding another.
Celtic had briefly pulled level at 2-2 after an Adam Idah brace, but Unai Emery’s side regained control to seal the win.
Cash took to social media after the match, celebrating the victory while hinting at a spell on the sidelines.
His absence adds to Villa’s growing injury concerns, with Pau Torres, Tyrone Mings, and Amadou Onana already out.
Emery praised his team’s European journey, calling the night “fantastic” and emphasizing the importance of their qualification.
With a packed schedule ahead, Villa will hope to maintain their form as they prepare to face Wolves in the Premier League this weekend.
