Jose Mourinho has expressed regret about two major decisions in his managerial career. The iconic Portuguese coach, known for his success at top clubs, reflected on his return to Chelsea in 2013 and his departure from Roma in 2023.

Mourinho first joined Chelsea in 2004, enjoying a stellar run until 2007 before moving on to Inter Milan and later Real Madrid in 2010.
In Spain, he challenged Barcelona’s dominance, famously clinching the La Liga title in 2012. However, a year later, he returned to Stamford Bridge, securing another Premier League title in 2015.
Looking back, Mourinho admits leaving Real Madrid was a mistake. Club president Florentino Perez had urged him to stay, saying, “You’ve done the hard part; the best is yet to come.” Despite agreeing, Mourinho chose to return to Chelsea, driven by his attachment to the club.
Reflecting on his Roma stint, Mourinho regretted not leaving after losing the Europa League final to Sevilla in 2023. The match ended in controversy, with Mourinho confronting referee Anthony Taylor afterward.
However, his regret lies in staying at Roma, where he endured a difficult start to the 2024 season, leading to his dismissal in January.
Now managing Fenerbahce, Mourinho’s team is second in the Turkish Super Lig, trailing Galatasaray by eight points. Despite his current role, the 61-year-old is eyeing international football.
He stated, “I want to lead a team in a European Championship or World Cup. I’ve united clubs before; now I want to do the same for a country.” Mourinho remains passionate about football and has no plans for a sabbatical, saying he’s ready for any challenge that comes his way.
