Manchester United have reportedly set a £50m price tag for winger Alejandro Garnacho, with Napoli manager Antonio Conte showing keen interest. Garnacho, who has played over 100 games since debuting for United’s first team in April 2022, was once considered a rising star at Old Trafford.

However, his form has dipped in the past year, with the Argentine starting fewer than half of United’s Premier League matches this season. He now finds himself behind Amad Diallo in manager Ruben Amorim’s lineup.

Despite this, the 20-year-old remains highly regarded in Europe and is now on Napoli’s radar. Conte, who recently acknowledged Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s desire to leave the Serie A leaders, is reportedly seeking Garnacho as a replacement for the Georgian forward. Kvaratskhelia, 23, is close to joining Paris Saint-Germain after being linked to several Premier League clubs.

Conte expressed frustration about Kvaratskhelia’s decision to leave despite efforts to keep him central to Napoli’s plans. “I spent months convincing him of the project, but he’s clear in wanting to move on,” Conte remarked. “I can’t hold back someone who doesn’t want to stay.”

Meanwhile, Garnacho is finding it hard to break into a United team languishing in 13th place, just seven points above the relegation zone. In contrast, Conte’s Napoli sit atop the Serie A table, two points clear, and aiming for their second title in three years.

Adding to Garnacho’s challenges, pundit Graeme Souness recently criticized the young winger. “He acts like a ‘wrong’un’ on the pitch and won’t reach his potential unless he changes,” Souness wrote in his column, referencing Garnacho’s alleged dissatisfaction with manager Amorim.

For Garnacho, a move to Napoli could offer a fresh start and a chance to fulfill the potential he showed early in his career.
