The Dutchman, who joined United from Bologna in a £36.5 million deal last summer, could already be on the move again as January approaches.
Reports from Italian outlet Il Mattino suggest that Antonio Conte has approved Napoli’s pursuit of Zirkzee. The forward is said to be open to a return to Serie A, a league where he previously showcased his talent.
Conte, a longtime admirer of Zirkzee, initially aimed to sign him during the summer transfer window before United secured his signature.
Napoli’s strategy echoes their success with McTominay, who has been a revelation since his £25 million move from United in August.
The Scottish midfielder has delivered five goal involvements in 12 Serie A matches, including a decisive goal against Torino.
Conte praised McTominay’s impact, saying, “We worked under the radar to bring him here. He wasn’t a starter at United, but I already knew his potential. He’s proven us right.”
For Napoli, the potential addition of Zirkzee would strengthen their attacking options while maintaining the momentum sparked by McTominay’s stellar performances.
With Juventus also rumored to be interested, the competition for Zirkzee’s signature could intensify.
As January looms, Napoli fans will be eager to see if Conte can secure another coup from Manchester United, further bolstering their ambitions in Serie A and beyond.
