Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon has cast doubt on the possibility of Christian Eriksen joining the Scottish champions, claiming the Manchester United midfielder “wouldn’t even get in the team.”

Eriksen, who has been linked with a January transfer to Celtic, reportedly faces limited opportunities under Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim.
Known for a high-intensity pressing style, Amorim’s tactics may not align with Eriksen’s strengths, prompting speculation about a move away from Old Trafford.
However, Lennon believes the move is unlikely. Speaking to BoyleSports, he questioned where Eriksen would fit in Celtic’s current setup, highlighting the squad’s depth and the potential financial implications of signing the Denmark international.
“He is a classy player, but I’m not sure who he’d replace,” Lennon remarked. “Considering the wages he’d demand, I can’t see it happening, and it might not suit the club.”
Celtic’s Current Dominance
Celtic has thrived under Brendan Rodgers’ leadership since his return in 2023, winning both the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup last season. This term, the club holds a four-point lead at the top of the table.
Lennon, a Celtic legend with five league titles as both player and manager, also reflected on past transfer misses, notably failing to sign Ivan Toney in 2020. Despite advanced talks and Toney visiting Celtic’s training ground, the forward ultimately joined Brentford, where he has since excelled.
“He’d have torn up the division,” Lennon added. “His success at Brentford speaks for itself.”
